Witneeses Say Rogue Wave Struck the Whale Watching Vessel Leviathan II

Witness accounts and preliminary information from the Transportation Safety Board indicate that a rogue wave struck the whale watching boat Leviathan II from the starboard or right side with most of the passengers standing on the top deck on the port or left side. The passenger distribution raised the vessel's centre of gravity making it more susceptible to a roll over because of the wave strike. Witnesses say the boat overturned several times with passengers thrown about like rag dolls either trapped inside the ship or thrown overboard. Five British nationals were killed and an Australian man is still missing
