Corner Trial Set To Begin
Posted by Samantha Casais on 9/28/2017 8:02:00 AM.
The trial of Keenan Corner is expected to begin next week. Corner is charged with 2nd degree murder in the 2014 killing of Ajax student Shabir Niazi. The 25-year old was arrested a few weeks after the victim was found in the garage of a home on Roosevelt Av. after being shot to death. At the time, Niazi was a 22-year old first-year student in a business program at Durham College. The trial was supposed to begin in April; it was delayed however as lawyers awaited a ruling by the Supreme Court of Canada on an evidentiary matter. None of the allegations against Corner have been proven in court. The jury panel was confirmed this week.
